Tell me, what’s your name again?

Well, with Seiya’s name we have a difficulty added I guess. For, is it Seiya Kou or Kou Seiya? ;-) Actually I asume that most fans of our lovely trio know, that Kou is in fact the given name of all three of them, and Seiya, Taiki and Yaten are really their surnames (best arguments and facts for that endless discussion and debate can be found at Starlight Pops). But yes, I agree, it's still rather strange, isn't it? I guess that's the way it is though. But as nobody actually really sticks to that anyway (for is there anyone out there that calls Seiya, Yaten or Taiki by their real first-name of Kou?), I will actually be analyzing the name Seiya more than I will be analyzing Kou. :-)

(kou) means ray or light, (sei) means star and (ya) means field, making the literal translation of Kou Seiya somewhat along the lines of "The Star Field Light".

Seiya is indeed very ambitious (as can, for instance, be seen by the mission to find a single woman among millions) and does also have strong leadership qualities, as Star Fighter as well as Seiya are the leaders of our lovely trio. Being a singer makes Seiya creative and expressive, and though the change and travel brought upon him by coming to Earth was not necessarily of his free will and certainly not for fun, I can really imagine him enjoying those two things in "normal" life. There is of course also a certain aggressivety to his character, as his emotional side combined with his short-tempered nature makes him a bit explosive at times.
