General Zodiacs
Seiya is born on July 30th, making him into a Leo. Leo's are said to be the most dominant and extrovert of all the zodiacal characters. Traditional character traits say that they are: generous, warmhearted, creative, enthusiastic, broad-minded, expansive, faithful and loving. But of course there are also dark sides to every character; Leo's are also said to be pompous, patronizing, bossy, interfering and dogmatic. On the whole, they are strongly idealistic characters, that tend to think and act bigger than others, their ambitiousness and strength making them into born leaders.
In relationships Leo's are open, sincere, genuine and trusting; they are said to be no good judges of character, and are therefore more easily disillusioned than the average person if let down by those they trust. Leo's have a strong sex drive, making it sometimes hard for them to remain constant; but while love lasts, they are very sincere and generous to their lovers.
Birthstone
Somehow there's never one single birthstone for an astrological sign. Depending on one source or the other, ruby or/and carnelian are/is Leo's birthstone.
Which colour would you spontaneously associate with love and vividness, passion and power?
Red like Ruby. Ruby-red. Red symbolizes love, it emanates warmth and a strong sense of life. Red is also the colour of Ruby, the King of gemstones. The most important characteristic about that valuable stone is its colour. There is of course a reason for this: the name "Ruby” was derived from the Latin word "rubens” meaning "red”. The red of Rubies is in a class all by otself: warm and fiery. Two magical elements are associated with the symbolism of this colour: fire and blood, implying warmth and life for mankind.
And thus Ruby-red is not just any old colour, no, it is the epitome of colour: hot, passionate and powerful colour. Like no other gemstone Ruby is the perfect symbol of powerful feelings. A ring set with a precious Ruby does not really symbolise a calm and moderate sympathy, but rather passionate and unbridled love which two people feel for each other.
It is said that carnelian was used to protect the traveler after death and guard against evil. Carnelian's healing properties are thought to help purify the blood and relieve pain. It is also thought to be beneficial in the treatment of infertility and is worn to enhance passion and desire.

I like how Seiya's birthstones really seem to fit him and his personality. The characteristics are all along the line of fiery and passionate and full of emotion, which Seiya obviously is. He isn't one to be quiet about the way he feels and always fights for what he believes to be right or necessary; of course this can make him seem overwhelming at times, but I have to say, I like a passionate character that can actually show and say what he feels when it is needed to.
Birthtree
Cypress, the Faithfulness : Strong, muscular, adaptable, takes what life has to give, happy, content, optimistic, needs enough money and acknowledgment, hates loneliness, passionate lover which cannot be satisfied, faithful, quick-tempered, unruly, pedantic and careless.

The above does make me think of Seiya! Seiya has a very positive and cheerful nature, who doesn't like being lonely. I think Seiya is also the type of person that really needs acknowledgment badly - he doesn't like being lonely, ignored or left-out as he has a rather demanding personality (may it be for attention, perfection or truth), and yet he will also be one of the very first to try and help someone and the last to give up on a person. I can also see him enjoying the money he earns as a popstar and enjoying a luxurious life. ;-)
Other Facts
In order to be born on June 30th, Seiya must have been conceived on (or about) the 6th of November.
Some famous Leos that were also born on July 30th are Henry Ford and Arnold Schwarzenegger (sheesh ...). But, come to think of it, Naoko Takeuchi actually stated the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Seiya share their birthday in the Material's Collection, so it probably wasn't a coincidence.
